What we’re about and how we’ll sound

Local

The concept of community radio is a simple one. The prime function is to provide a quality “local” service to the community of Northampton.

NNBC will provide an original and innovative service aimed at the clearly identifiable community made up of those who live, learn, work and play in the borough of Northampton and its environs.
NNBC has laid down clearly defined objectives in terms of building a solid local, loyal listener base over the next five years

Music

A mix of pop, rock, adult contemporary, and select oldies hits, predominantly drawing on music from the 1960s through the present day.
Additional ‘spice tracks’ will provide the opportunity to play music no longer heard on the radio locally. A variety of music styles and genres will be broadcast as part of specific interest shows from 7pm to 10pm each night and at weekends.
NNBC’s Adult Hits format does not adhere to a specific music genre or aimed at specific portion of the population.

Speech

Local speech content is what defines good local radio, yet it is expensive to create and difficult to sustain. NNBC solves that dilem-ma through its unique partnership with the University of Northampton.
Our daytime output will be delivered by well trained professional presenters who are credible to the community and assisted by Media and Journalism students from the university.
Night time output will be a combination of niche/specialist shows presented by students and members of the community.
